The new Goodyear Vector4Seasons Generation 2 tyre has ranked highly in Auto Express’ latest edition to its tyre test portfolio – the All Season Tyre Test 2015.
Receiving ‘Recommended’ status in the test, the Vector4Seasons Generation 2 performed significantly well in wet weather tests. In wet braking, wet handling and wet circle tests the tyre achieved 1st place in each test. This high level of performance is no mean feat after competing with some of the industry’s top players in the All Season market.
Tyre tester for Auto Express, Kim Adams, reports, “For many motorists, it (Vector4Seasons Generation 2) may well be the preferred choice thanks to its excellent wet road performance – the most common conditions for UK winters. It won all the shallow water tests, which are the hazards drivers face most during the colder months.
“The grip while turning inspires confidence and allows you to follow the desired line even when accelerating.”
Goodyear has announced that it has partnered with German record breaker Rainer Zietlow and his second world record attempt to drive from Cape Agulhas, South Africa to Nordkapp, Norway in less than 10 days, starting this Friday, September 11.
The team’s first attempt last fall resulted in a record time of 21 days and 10 hours. But after an unlucky accident, through no fault of their own, the team lost 13 days before they could pick up their attempt on the same, undamaged tyres. This September, Rainer Zietlow, cameraman Marius Biela and Sam Roach, CEO of Volkswagen Racing UK, will once again attempt a new world record.
Zietlow, a multiple world-record holder in extreme continent-spanning journeys, will depart from Cape Agulhas with his team on Friday, September 11 bound for Nordkapp, more than 18,000 kilometres away.
In order to cross three continents in a record-breaking time, Rainer Zietlow’s Volkswagen Touareg V6 TDI will be fitted with Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather tyres for SUV and 4X4 vehicles. With the remarkable SmartTRED technology, the tyres are designed to withstand the demanding range of extreme climates and road conditions en route.
The world record attempt is expected to take around 10 days to complete.

Meanwhile, a series of prizes and promotions were offered by Bridgestone in a high profile display of its own, featuring a Formula One simulator, a golf simulator, a hospitality unit and a chance to win a BMW i3 car worth up to £30,000.
Bush Tyres director Tom Bush said: “There were a number of highlights from the event, which continues to go from strength-to-strength, no matter what the weather throws at us!

GT Radial’s long-haul portfolio has been expanded with the launch of the GTL919, a new trailer pattern available in 19.5” and 22.5” sizes.
The tyre has been developed for maximum return-on-investment ownership, with a dedicated compound formula, extra deep optimised tread and wide shoulder ribs ensuring regular wear as well as reducing fuel consumption and increase mileage potential.
Additional upper sidewall protection provides enhanced resistance to cuts and tearing, especially from curbing damage.

Kumho has chosen the IAA in Frankfurt (September 17-27, 2015), to launch a range of exciting new products. Most notable among them is the Wattrun, a tyre developed for electric vehicles that is not only 25 percent lighter than existing products, but exhibits excellent braking on wet roads and a low noise level.
Also on display will be new run-flat tyres with enhanced safety features, and self-sealing-tyres that prevent air leakage in the event of a puncture – the first such product to emanate from a Korean tyre maker. Further evidence of the company’s future-orientated approach to technology is embodied in the concept tyres developed for Ssanyong’s SUV Tivoli concept vehicles – XAV and XIV. Specifically designed for off-road driving, the XAV features a tread pattern modeled on the footprint of the mountain goat and offers excellent traction, reduced noise and optimum driving ability on muddy terrain. The XIV boasts superb wet weather performance and is notably quieter than rival SUV products.
Cartwright, one of the UK’s leading commercial vehicle body and trailer manufacturers has renewed its contract with Goodyear tyres after seeing impressive performance levels from its products and services in the last 12 months.
The family business will now continue with its 100 per cent Goodyear tyre policy, fitting both new and retread products. The new two year deal is the first of its length to be handed to a tyre manufacturer by Cartwright.
Phil Rodman, Cartwright Rental managing director said: “Since we started way back in 1952 we have always had the same ethos, to provide a quality product and service that meets our customers’ requirements. Goodyear’s approach is synonymous with this, as they deliver a high end premium product which in turn delivers reliable, safe and cost effective performance to our customers. From working with them over the last 12 months, Goodyear has done nothing but prove its credentials as a premium tyre manufacturer. Kumho Tyres heavily relies on sports sponsoring as marketing channel in Europe. Kumho supports a number of different popular sports in order to support its high brand image and acceptance especially in Sweden. Together with local distribution partners Kumho is engaged in football, handball, skiing and horse racing as well as in motorsports. All investments were undertaken with the central aim of achieving TV coverage which is regularly met by the broadness of the engagement.
The engagement covers LED ads in the Gothenburg football stadium and others, logo presence in Swedish ice hockey league and at the skiing event in Falun as well as with the national teams in handball, men and ladies’ teams alike.
